Cabling & Bracing

Support hardware for weak unions and heavy leaders — so a beloved tree can stay standing, safely.

Cabling & Bracing

For mature trees with structural weakness.

You might need this if…

  • A co-dominant or V-shaped union
  • A crack or split forming
  • A heavy horizontal limb
  • A historic tree worth saving
  • An arborist recommended support

What’s included

  • Union & defect assessment
  • Steel cable or dynamic bracing
  • Rod & brace installation
  • Reduction to lower the load
  • Annual hardware inspection

Common questions

  • For most deciduous trees, the dormant season (late fall through late winter) is ideal — the structure is visible and the tree heals cleanly. There are exceptions: avoid pruning oaks and elms in spring/summer due to beetle-spread disease, and prune spring-bloomers right after they flower. Dead, damaged, or hazardous limbs can come off any time.
